Thus, whenever anyone goes out for a bite to eat in any of the many restaurants of the United States, there is a good chance that they will be enjoying Performance Food Group's professional services.
History
The company's roots can be traced back to as early as 1875 when a food distribution and brokerage firm first started up in Richmond, VA. This company first began to distribute canned vegetables and canned fruits across the mid-Atlantic to restaurants and grocery stores. The company broadened its reach in the 1980's and became a food distributors network so that resources among its members such as procurement, marketing, product development, sales technology support were shared through their largest division which was Pocahontas Foods. Thus, the company became big enough to compete with already established, large scale broadline distributors. In 1987, Pocahontas Foods merged with Caro Foods and the company was renamed to Performance Food Group or PFG. Since then, a large number of food distributors have joined the PFG Company. Today, Performance Food Group has expanded so vastly that it now serves all the 50 states of the United States and 41 foreign countries as well. It regularly delivers around 68,000 food items to over 41,000 customers.
