Overview

ProCon.org is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation that has no government affiliations of any kind. According to ProCon.org’s Articles of Incorporation , the organization’s “specific purpose…is to educate, to maintain an educational website and provide educational material, including educational information about contemporary issues…No substantial part of the activites of this corporation shall consist of carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and the corporation shall not participate or intervene in any political campaign (including the publishing or distribution of statements) on behalf of any candidate for public office.

ProCon.org seeks to publish the best pro and con responses to the core questions of a variety of complex topics. ProCon.org uses quotations of the proponents and opponents of said topics to illustrate the whole of each issue, offering point and counterpoint to every pro and con.

ProCon.org’s offices are located in Santa Monica, CA. ProCon.org has nine full-time employees.

Mission

Issues

Currently, ProCon has websites focusing on the issues of Medical Marijuana, the ACLU, the war in Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, Electronic Voting Machines, the nature vs. nurture argument regarding homosexuality, Euthanasia, Felon Voting Rights, Prostitution and the health properties of Milk. ProCon has two archived sites (on Nuclear Power and California Justice Rose Bird), and sites in development (Illegal Immigration, Global Warming, the 2008 Presidential Election, Capitol Punishment, and Alternative Energy).
