Title

The Paleo-Linguistics Research Centre - Inspiration For Tomorrow From The Insights Of Yesterday

Description

The Centre concentrates on the linguistic analysis of grammatical forms of ancient Hebrew, Aramaic and other Near Eastern contemporary analogues in an effort to create a better picture of the religious and cultural milieu of the Hebrew people as it existed in the centuries predating the Christian era.

The Centre is the only independent research institute of its kind in the Northeast. It is located close by the campuses of the University of Hartford, the University of Connecticut, and the Hartford Seminary, and often relies on scholars from these facilities for project assistance.

The Centre was founded by Rabbi Dr. J. D. Sandberg in 2004. Trained in the Dutch Orthodox Sefardic Jewish tradition, Rabbi Sandberg is a student of near eastern languages and culture and is one of the leading authorities on the the contributions of the Sefardic lingua franca, Judezmo, to the evolution of Sefardic religious and social fabric and to the Jewish liguistic milieau overall.

Beginning with the founding of the Centre, Rabbi Sandberg has concentrated on the reconciliation of apparent inconsistencies between the the Oral Tradition as recorded by the Jewish spiritual experience through the ages and the historical record as recovered by recent archeological discovery.

The Centre's three-fold mission is as follows:

To bring a better understanding of the history underlying today’s Jewish religious and cultural milieu to the non-scholarly inquirer.

To assist the layman in acquiring an appreciation of the utility of the study of the Hebrew language to his understanding of the true essentials of the Jewish faith.

To fill a regional void in scholarship that exists in the field of Linguistic Anhtropology and Paleo-Linguistics with regards to the Hebrew language and proto-Hebrew analogues.
