Observe and Report

Security officers. We see them everyday yet know very little about them. Media stereotyping has much to do with what we think we know, but we really have a lot to learn. In Observe and Report, Michael Oden gives us a much more intimate portrait of what exactly defines a security officer and what it's really like living (and protecting) life behind the badge.

What You'll Learn

Through this extensive collection of real-life stories, you'll learn an incredible depth of information that only an insider can provide. You'll become familiar with all types of security and the duties involved in each one such as weapons training, internal investigations, and interrogations. You'll also discover that security officers are often involved in unexpected situations and use split-second decision making.mett.in mett.in

Named after his book, Michael's blog provides additional behind the scenes accounts of life on the job, and a preview of what to expect in the book.

You'll also learn more about Michael and just how extensive his training is. Particularly engaging is the first person narrative, as well as the accompanying opinions and comparisons to previous experiences and positions. Not content with simply conveying information, however, Michael also invites readers to share their comments and experiences.

The book made security work seem so exciting, with potential for travel to exotic and romantic locales and providing great scope for advancement and high pay for both men and women.

I commend him for bringing to the reader a greater understanding and respect for those dedicated, unsung heroes who, generally unobserved, keep us and our families safe and secure in our homes and communities.
