Notes on the interface and usability
these are free thoughts, unorganized as of this moment
- The front page is too cluttered:
- reduce the amount of content available on front
- minimize the number of links
- link categories on front to be sorted by actions
- create a hierarchy of dataflow for front
- Edit pages are confusing at first
- chalk one up to wiki-syntax
- edit pages need a syntax cheat sheet
- cheat sheet can be accessed in two ways: PDF or js pop-down
- the Editing Help link is hidden, and the page is too overwhelming at this point
- the list of info, disclaimers and such at the bottom is cumbersome and confusing
- "summary" text-area is confusing
- Edit links to each section are badly placed, especially on wide screens
- change the "edit" text to a small image
- place the edit icon before or just after the title
- Watch tab should be even more separated from the edit tabs.
- maybe use an icon instead of a text tab.
- Are there reservations about utilizing Javascript for certain functions?
- Stay with a liquid layout, 2 or 3 column.
- Will it ever be used in a 1 column layout?
