Why create an account?

• Creating an account allows you to pick a user name and all edits made while logged in will be assigned to that user name. You will also be able to review your contributions by clicking "my contributions" which is only available when logged in. You will also have your own "user page" where you can write a bit about yourself. In addition, you will have a "user talk page" which you can use to communicate with others. You will be notified if someone writes you a message there. Your e-mail address remains confidential.
• You don't need to reveal your offline identity, but having an account gives you an identity on this wiki that others will recognize. While anonymous contributions are welcome, logging in lets you build trust and respect through a history of good edits. Unfortunately, the site does get vandalized, spammed and information gets uploaded by people who just want to advertise. Logging in allows distinguished and reliable contributors to be more easily separated from spammers and hence really helps with site adminstration.
• Registered users have the ability to make a customized "watch list". This feature shows up when logged in.
• You must be a registered user in order to upload pictures.
• Registered users also have their own "Talk" pages where the rest of the AboutUs community can leave notes and have a conversation.
• Registered users can set their user preferences including such options as:
  • How large your edit box should be
  • How you sign your name
  • How many pages are displayed in recent changes
