Getting onto the WebIRC
To get onto the AboutUs WebIRC, you need to click Load IRC above.
Won't load?
If it won't load, check to see that you have the latest version of Java installed.
Nickname
Changing your Nickname
When you first join, your nickname will be something like "WebUser" or "Web123". These are automatically generated, but if you'd like to change it you can!
Here you'll see "Change Nick To" and a text box under it. In that text box, type what you'd like to be called, then press Enter.
If you receive no response, or you get "-NickServ- This nickname is owned by someone else ", then that username is already taken.
If you receive a response like "User1 is now known as User2 ", you have succeeded!
Remember, your nickname must be in accordance to the IRC Rules
Registering your Nickname
Registering your nickname assures that only you can use that name. To do this, you need to type /msg nickserv register pass, replacing pass with what you'd like your password to be. Once you've done this, next time you try and log on with the same username, you'll be asked to put in a password. To do this, type /msg nickserv identify pass, replacing pass with your chosen password. AboutUs, nor MiCCAS.net manage these details. Use at your own risk.
Rules
The basic rules of using this IRC are:
- > No trolling
- > No swearing
- > No Put Downs
- > No Illegal Activity
- > No flooding (posting the same message over and over again)
Penalties
- > Kick (You can rejoin straight away)
- > Short-Term Ban
- > Long Term Ban
These penalties are decided by the op who bans you. Their decision is final, and no arguing it permitted. If you wish talk to the OP, please do so in a private chat.
OPs (Operators)
The OPs are the people who run the IRC channel. Below are all the OPs that currently run the IRC.
- > MiCCAS
- > MarkDilley
- > TakKendrick
- > RayKing
- > RayBero
- > ChrisBabson
- > BrandonC1Sanders
You can tell an OP because they'll have a '@' before their name.
You may contact them in a private chat by double-clicking on their name
Who is @ChanServ?
@ChanServ is our IRC robot to make sure that no-one takes over our channel and to keep users safe. @ChanServ won't talk to you, so don't try to :)
Can I run robots?
IRC robots are NOT allowed on the IRC channel because of security risks. If you are found to be running an IRC robot, an operator will ban you from using the IRC for a short period of time, depending on the circumstances.
