Site History

History - Thunder Games

ArcadeThunder originated from a site called "Thunder Games", which first opened in October, 2006. The site started off as a small gaming community, mainly devised of the owners friends. By the summer of 2007, the site had around 80 Free Games. The site was increasing in popularity, many games had hundreds of plays. The site started having major problems at the end of 2007, and was closed until March 2008. Unfortunately, the site was closed down again in the Summer because of web hosting difficulties.

Thunder Games Returns - 2011

Thunder Games made a return after being down for nearly 3 years. The site re-opened on July 19, 2011. The entire site had a complete much-needed makeover when it relaunched, featuring bright shades of blue, orange, green, and white. The site kept most of the 150 flash games from the old Thunder Games Website. The site did launch with 4 New Games - Mario World 3, Crimson Room, Ballies, and Mad Virus. The first new games launched on July 22, Meeblings and You're Toast.

On September 21, 2011, A hint was posted on the Thunder Games Twitter Page about "big changes" coming very soon. On September 22, the site was taken down with a message saying to check back in a few hours. The site was back up within 4 hours, with a new name - ArcadeThunder.

Arcade Thunder

ArcadeThunder replaced Thunder Games on September 22. The site is under the same ownership, and nothing on the site was changed at this point except the name. New games have consistently been added 2-3 times per week since it's re-opening. The site has also featured special seasonal games for different holidays.

The site received a huge makeover on Novemeber 21, 2011, featuring a new layout for all of the pages. The new layout included game ratings, detailed How To Play sections for each game, and also community forums.
