While Cindy currently does all the wheel work, Jim works at slab building, kiln loading and unloading, glazing and the myriad other tasks involved in running a studio Handle applications, trimming, and finishing work are shared equally. Jim also provides web site maintenance and design and does most of the labeling, packaging and shipping.

Re-located in August of 2001 from Edson to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the studio is the home of all types of wheel thrown and hand built pottery items. Currently in production is our Fall and Winter 2005 line which continues the immensely popular Sushi and Sake sets and Rice Bowls and features our exciting glaze applications Raven Wing, Northern Lights , Sunrise , Mountain Mist , Rose, and our latest glazes Moonshadow and Granite. We are working on an informative set of instructional videos on "A Down to Earth Look at How We Make Pottery. and the first DVD in the series is available for sale here and at various retail outlets. Our children Kaileigh and John Slowinski help to make this a real family business. John is in grade nine and Kaileigh is in grade eleven, both at Victoria School of Visual and Performing Arts so most of their time is tied up with school work .

Out of the Fire Studio Pottery,Wheel Thrown Stoneware Pottery

Description

Out of the Fire Studio was established as a pottery studio in Edson Alberta in 1999 by Cindy Clarke. Joined soon after by Jim Willett, the pottery relocated to Edmonton Alberta in 2001 where it became a source for pottery for over 45 retailers across western Canada.Thousands of people from around the world have purchased and enjoyed handcrafted stoneware pottery from Cindy Clarke through Out of the Fire Studio. In January of 2007, Cindy and Jim made the decision to close down their wholesale pottery studio and open a studio and retail gallery where they could sell their products and promote the work of many of their friends. After a year and a half they closed their downtown studio and gallery and downsized again. Cindy and Jim continue to be involved with pottery making at a home studio level, sometimes assisted by our children Kaileigh and John. We provide pottery to a few select retail outlets, are participating in a few craft sales, and have begun a new direction with "The Clay Teacher".[1] Pottery from the studio is available for purchase through our online pottery shop and from a small select group of retailers.
