- Established in 1952, Blaydes Lock Co. was founded by W.F. Blaydes and Jack Hildebrand. Mr. Blaydes was the Washington, D.C. representative for York Safes, and Jack had just finished a stint in the U.S. Air Force. At that time, there was a need for a locksmith supply distributor in the in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area with quality merchandise. Jack took over the business when Mr. Blaydes retired and moved it from a small store in northwest, Washington to a larger facility on 18th and Bryant Streets, N.E. in 1966. We out grew that building and in 1984, we moved across the street to a larger, more modern building (40,000 sq. Ft.) As the locksmith and security business has changed over the years so has Blaydes Lock Co.
