The victims received a $2,000,000.00 settlement from the village's insurer. Randy Mucha started as an Oak Brook Police Patrol Officer in 1987 and earned a promotion to Sergeant in 1999 after serving as an Assistant Shift Commander for several years. Randy started Oak Brook's K-9 program in 1993 and served as a K-9 handler from 1993-2000 with Police Dog Marlo. Randy is married to Carol and has one child and two German Shepherd Dogs. Randy has served as a Field Training Officer, Crash Reconstructionist, Juvenile Officer, Breathalyzer Operator, Bicycle Officer, Detective Sergeant and Acting Division Commander. Randy received a Criminal Justice degree in 1984 from College Of DuPage. In 1999 he completed the Northwestern University Supervision of Police Personnel (SPP) program. In 2001 he earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Social Justice (CSJ) from Lewis University and in 2002 a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership. He also completed the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) in 2002. He is three classes away from a Masters Degree in Public Safety Administration (PSA) and hopes to graduate in late 2007. Randy donates his services as Webmaster for the Illinois Police Work Dog Association (ILPWDA) and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #213 (OBFOP213). Randy and Carol's hobbies include digital photography, live music and auto racing.
