What (summary)
Create a page of recent webcam pictures that give a feeling of co-location to those who aren't.
Why this is important
This has the short term benefit of giving our remote members a sense of what is going on. A longer term benefit would be as a mechanism of social cooperation that we could offer to community projects.
DoneDone
- There is a page of pictures that have a fixed layout and can be trivially updated.
- There is a single button update mechanism deployed and in hourly use by at least four people in each of Portland and Lahore.
Steps to get to DoneDone
- Establish a "reporter" mentality among folks with built-in cameras. Here is a picture taken with Photo Booth that is the sort of presence reporting that we could realistically report. Note that this is not a candid shot.
- Label each picture by who shot it and how old it is. The age thing will require some dynamic content.
