Description
About ESI
Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (ESI; Nasdaq: ESIO), is one of the world's leading suppliers of innovative production laser systems for microengineering applications. Its high-technology manufacturing equipment includes:
Built upon a history and tradition of innovation that spans more than 50 years, ESI designs and develops a broad range of products for the advanced electronic devices in use around the world today. ESI's tools enable its manufacturing customers to realize increased yields and improved product quality at significantly reduced production costs and lower overall cost of ownership.
Founded in 1944, ESI initially produced high-precision resistance measurement instruments and reference standards. The company developed laser-based systems for hybrid circuit resistor trimming in 1970. In 1980, ESI expanded its laser product line by introducing an advanced laser system to be used by semiconductor manufacturers in the repair of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips. Recently, ESI introduced the Model 9835, the world’s first 300mm ultraviolet (UV) laser memory-repair system, designed to boost memory-device yields with 90nm or smaller design rules by delivering the industry’s smallest spot size. Representing only a few of ESI’s many technology milestones, these developments illustrate that innovation has long been a defining characteristic of ESI's corporate culture.
