- The Sun State Quartet was founded about four years ago by Ira Smith. He had previously sung with numerous groups over the years, but he felt led, and called by God, to start a "new" ministry. What he desired was to not only sing to people, but to minister to them. Ministering to someone's heart was the most important thing then, as it is now. Many hours of prayer, scripture reading, meditation, sleepless nights, and asking the opinions of others followed the initial idea of forming a group. God heard the prayers and promised that He would deliver the right people to him at the right time. "God has blessed me with a great group of guys. I am blown away by the awesome sound that God has blessed us with in such a short period of time. Everyone has been working hard to get the ministry going and I appreciate each one of them and their efforts. God is going to bless us. (Ira)"
