Title

AvaMods - A Day of Defeat Modified Server Community

Description

AvaMods is a community and team that runs a modified day of defeat server.

Additional Information

AvaMods was originally part of team cdrive, a Day of Defeat 1.3 clan that ran a 24/7 avalanche server.

After a shift in leadership in team cdrive, various internal conflicts resulted in a large number of members spliting off to form a new server. AvaMods was officially launched on February 1, 2007. The basic concepts of team cdrive's server were not only carried over to what was now known as AvaMods, but the applications of server and map modification were pushed to the limits of the game engine.

You'll find them running esquisitely modified versions of maps and privately developed AmxModX plugins to expand apon the original game itself. On top of all that they also provide a community-like atmosphere on their website and forums. You will also find a large collection of downloads on their website. High traffic downloads include their hosting of custom Day of Defeat maps as well as all the publicly released AmxModX plugins they have created. They also host a detailed statistical database containing player stats dating back to the days of team cdrive (November 27, 2005 to be specific).

As of October 27, 2011, the AvaMods DoD 1.3 server had shut down after 6 years of nonstop operation. Bringing an end to what has been one of the longest continually running Day of Defeat servers.

After much demand, AvaMods had returned as of April 22, 2014 under the name 'AvaMods 4.o'. That server eventually faded out and went offline without any public announcement. Then on September 2, 2016 the AvaMods 5.o Alpha Server was quietly launched. It wasn't until September 16, 2016 that AvaMods made their public announcement about the server return. About a month later the server was transitioned from the alpha stage to the beta stage, where it still stands today. The AvaMods 5.o server is running almost an identical setup of that which AvaMods used years ago.
