Title
Heritage Museum
Description
The Heritage Museum houses an extensive collection of Howard County's history, ranging from Native American life to the discovery of oil. Located at 510 Scurry in downtown Big Spring, part of the museum's permanent exhibitions are located in the historical home of Dora Roberts, a pioneer of Howard County. The museum's newest addition, built in 1991, more than doubled the museum's exhibition and collection storage space, and enabled the museum to offer more educational activities. The Heritage Museum is continuously working to enrich the cultural lives of West Texans through its collections, permanent and special exhibits, and educational programming for children and adults alike.
The patio of the historical Dora Roberts home is now available for weddings, receptions, parties, etc. The rental fee is $50.00 per day, with a security deposit of $ 100.00. After the event, an inspection will be done by the museum Staff before the deposit will be returned. There will be a charge of $2.50 per table and .50 per chair if these items are provided by museum. Restrictions include: no alcoholic beverages allowed on the premises, the maximum occupancy is 100 people, and it must be reserved by someone 21 years old or older. All reservations are under the discretion of the museum staff.
