CodeineFree - Codeine free is a support group primarily for people with problems with codeine based OTC medicines.

- Codeinefree.org.uk is a small self-help support group for people who have, have had, or have family members with an addiction to codeine or codeine based OTC medicines. We are run by 3 former dependants (addicts) who beat their addictions in different ways, a prescribing Substance Misuse Nurse, Surgical Charge Nurse and a Senior Pharmacist .

Codeinefree was founded on 14th September 2005 by Mark Edwards as www.codeinefree.org.uk. Mark was a visitor to another web site which was not moderated. Due to it's unmoderated state, it was subject to troll invasions who simply wanted to cause upset and mayhem.
Codeinefree was created with three aims, Firstly, to bring help and advice to people who found themselves dependant on codeine. Secondly, to try to bring said help from medical and pharmaceutical professionals and thirdly, to raise awareness to the entire area of codeine and Over The Counter (OTC) dependency.
