What (summary)

An easy way to invite a friend to occupy a named niche that you create for them so that they'll already be plugged in a bit once they arrive.

Why this is important

A first step toward setting up effective ViralSpirals that lead to ExponentialGrowth in the number of engaged CommunityMembers.

DoneDone

  • Add an "invite a friend" button
  • User inputs the full name and email address for the friend
  • Adds a short invitation message (perhaps public)?
  • Clicks "send the invitation"
  • Emails a message to the friend including a special link
  • Clicking the special link walks the friend through a simple "create an account" wizard with pre-populated information fields (name, email, and suggested username)
  • When the account is finished being created, the new member page includes a bit about "invited by XXXX" with a link to them
  • The member who invited them has their page edited to include "YYYY is here because I invited them"
