The process of becoming a Featured WikiPage begins with the nomination process which adds a tag to pages community members believe could be good pages for AboutUs to feature.

The idea with the nomination system is to generate discussion about a specific wiki article page and to provide pointers to help users polish their pages with the hopes of becoming a Featured article. Staff and community members review these discussions and featuring pages by looking at the FeatureMePotentials list which is all the candidates currently nominated.

While this presents a quick and easy method for people who might be new to the AboutUs system or new to wiki editing, it does require a bit of behind-the-scenes editing to then build the FeatureMePotentials list after WikiPages have been nominated.

The How To

This list is a primer on how to build the FeatureMePotentials list for AboutUs Staff and other admin volunteers. While it is possible for other community members to follow these steps, it's probably more valuable to go through the full nomination process as it helps put wiki pages on our radar for being featured.

1) Open up a page that has been nominated, but hasn't been added to the FeatureMePotentials list. These can be found here: Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:FeatureMeNew

2) Add this to the page:

Discussion
Featured Page Nomination
FeatureMeCurrent

3) Copy out the nomination date and any existing comments

4) Delete the FeatureMeNew and nomination date/comments

5) Open up the
page

6) Copy in the nomination date, etc from step #2

7) Add this to that page:

<noinclude><small> < Go back to | Go back to Pages Nominated to be Featured ></small><br></noinclude>
featured discussion
* <span class="plainlinks">Edit/Add to this Discussion</span>

8) Take out the /FeatureDisussion that the first 3 PAGENAMEs add.

9) Make a comment

10) Add the Discussion link to the Potentials list. FeatureMePotentials
