It would be great if on every page, we had a "call button" which anyone could press in order to ask a more experienced user to look at and edit the page.

How it would work

  • The button appears on every page and can be in one of two states, "pressed" or "unpressed"
  • Anyone logged in user can press the button, anonymous users are informed that they need to log in to use this feature
    • Once pressed, "[[Category:NeedsAttention]]" would be added to the page
  • It remained depressed until the page is edited and the NeedsAttention category removed
    • Upon doing so an e-mail or talk page comment is sent to the person who requested the page be updated
    • We might also send out an e-mail to the website owner

Use Cases

  • Someone would just like to see what we can do to improve a basic bot scrape
  • Inappropriate content is reported
  • Experienced users can respond to CallButton requests by looking at the CallButtonQueue
    • The CallButtonQueue can be filtered by keywords, this way an ExperiencedUser can focus in areas that he or she is interested in. Users can store the keywords they care about in their preferences.
