===thoughts===

* center the layout for folks with larger monitors?

** <span style="color:#257a5a;">this will probably happen soon, but is not a priority. --[[Vinh Nguyen]]</span>

* Having "related changes" and "what links here" at the very top left of a domain page seems quite odd to me.  And it seems logical that all of these (especially "move" should be together with "article", "edit" and "history"). [[Kristina Weis|Kristina]] <small>[[User talk:KristinaWeis|.talk.]] [[WebIRCHelp|.chat.]]</small> 22:00, 17 March 2008 (PDT)

** <span style="color:#257a5a;">unfortunately move refers to the ''page'' while the edit, history, article commands refer to the wiki portion of a page. Now, for non-domain pages this makes sense, as the whole ''page'' is a wiki, but for domain pages this isn't the case as there will be distinct sections other than wiki. --[[Vinh Nguyen]]</span>

*** ''I agree with you Vinh, but the problem still persists, related changes and what links here are in illogical places, and would fit better in more links section on left. ~~ [[MarkDilley]] 21:29, 23 April 2008 (PDT)''

* I think it would make sense for the first three links at the top left to be home, then help and contact.  [[Kristina Weis|Kristina]] <small>[[User talk:KristinaWeis|.talk.]] [[WebIRCHelp|.chat.]]</small> 22:09, 17 March 2008 (PDT)

** <span style="color:#257a5a;">''contact us'' has been demoted to an even lower position on the page, and the purpose of random page and rc is to push users into traversing the site by giving them large ''jumping-off'' points. --[[Vinh Nguyen]]</span>

==[[Pages Just Edited]] ==

* The recently editied pages is not updating, this is a new bug from the last 24 hours. ~~ [[MarkDilley]] 12:15, 15 April 2008 (PDT)

** [[JohnStanton]] and I think that the front page is not reseting it's cache anymore. ~~ [[MarkDilley]] 12:32, 15 April 2008 (PDT)

*** So I am removing it from the front page for now. (along with [[Currently Online]]

* I don't know when it started, but we are not filtering the module for recently edited pages showing up on our front page. Bad pages are showing up on the front page and I don't think we want that... ~~ [[MarkDilley]]

==Skin related issues==

* '''PortlandTech''' -- the Stoel Rives badge is off center from the user info box and the Name.com badge. -- {{TakTalk}} 17:30, 11 April 2008 (PDT)

** The badge is also broken in i.e. 6 - ~~ [[MarkDilley]] 20:08, 23 April 2008 (PDT)

* '''Skins on Edit and History pages''' -- Not sure if this is possible, but pages that have a specific skin ([[FloorMall.com]], [[SpiderGourmet.com]] for example), don't show the skin in Edit/Preview mode or on the history page. On the history page, I'm not sure it matters, but I think it might be confusing for people to see the skin and then not while editing/previewing the page. Not sure this is an easy fix, if it's not, then we should discuss whether it's needed or not. -- {{TakTalk}} 17:30, 11 April 2008 (PDT)

====Ad Reaction====

<span style="color:#257a5a;">''the placement of the ads in content will probably move over time, but for now the bottom of page is the agreed upon position.'' --[[Vinh Nguyen]]</span>

* Double-clicking to the edit the page (part of a user preference setting) is broken. I'm probably the only person in the world who uses this, but I do use it like extensively. There is a link of [[ActiveFind.net]] on [[FaceParty.com]]. But this does not show up in the "What Links Here" of [[ActiveFind.net]].

: There is a known issue with this function and case.  You'll noice that on [[FaceParty.com]] the link is actually for [[Activefind.net]], which has a different capitalization.  I don't expect this will get fixed in the short-term.  The fix is complicated, and not sure to work, so we just get used to this broken function. == Google Maps extension and captions ==

[[Image:MapsCaption.png|right|thumb|300px|Captions work right in intersected map lists, like the one in PortlandTech/Software]] There seems to be a recent bug that happened that's causing "captions" to not show up correctly on maps added to pages using the Google Maps Extension. Generally, if you click on a "pin prick" on a map like on [[E-TechSiliconValley.com#Locations/Contact]], there should be a bubble that comes up with caption information (which I have entered). The captions show up fine in "Preview" mode, but then when the page is saved, they do not.

* Strangely enough, this works correctly on intersected maps, like those found in the [[PortlandTech]] portal ''(see image)''.

* I know the captions worked in early Dec. when I built the [[BasketAndFloral.com]] page, so I'm not sure what's broken since then.

== Problem with Safari ==

[[Image:Picture 18.png|150px]]

Reported this a while ago -- still seeing the problem. I'd characterize this as a pretty significant "lack of polish" when viewed in Safari, probably worthy of prompt attention... There's an extra pair of scroll bars on the main frame of AboutUs pages when using Safari browser. I think it results from the content in the frame being just a tiny bit larger than the frame size itself. I don't see the problem in Firefox. -[[User:Peteforsyth|Pete]] 16:41, 3 March 2008 (PST)

== No Javascript in Safari ==

Don't know if this was a problem before I upgraded to the latest Safari -- Version 3.1 (5525.13) -- this week or not, but I can't get the javascript stuff ("site navigation," address intersect maps, etc) to work on AboutUs in Safari. I've made sure that my javascript is turned on, and it works on other sites, including "test" site like http://liblearn.osu.edu/tutor/jscript.html, so it appears to be AboutUs specific. Javascript works fine for me in Firefox. -- {{TakTalk}} 15:31, 19 March 2008 (PDT)

* So, some Javascript works for me (the "more links" in the navigation, and my enhanced RC). Other Javascript doesn't work in Safari, like the "flag" menu. This might also be related, but the "double click to edit" preference (which claims to be a Javascript setting in preferences) still doesn't work for me in Safari or Firefox. -- {{TakTalk}} 10:42, 20 March 2008 (PDT)

** The adult-content flags worked for me fine in Safari. However, you are correct, certain javascript preference settings aren't working, like double-click. It looks like this is a javascript problem and not a browser problem. --[[Vinh Nguyen]] 11:10, 20 March 2008 (PDT)

== Templates and Casespace ==

Templates that have been typed in under an improper casespace (ie <nowiki>{{clear}} instead of {{Clear}}</nowiki>) aren't working now. Unfortunately, it appears that a variety of pages are using the <nowiki>{{clear}}</nowiki> and no one caught it before because the casespace worked. -- {{TakTalk}} 17:50, 19 March 2008 (PDT)

** This bug is currently being studied. --[[Vinh Nguyen]] 11:12, 20 March 2008 (PDT)

== No maps in the domain box (lat and long) ==

Maps aren't showing up in the domain box on Article pages if they have the lat/long information rather than the "<nowiki><map section="Address"></map></nowiki>". See [[HilmanRollers.com]] for an example. -- {{TakTalk}} 10:35, 20 March 2008 (PDT)

== Maps at undesireable street scale ==

Some domain location maps show at street scale while others show at state scale. This seems to correlate with a domain page having an Address section vs just a Contact section. For example compare:

* [[C2.com]] -- street level, has Address

* [[debian.org]] -- state level, has Contact

== == two rails=too much real estate == ==

I see two problems with the recent redesign, sorry to say. First, pages with YouTube videos (for instance, see [[The Open Lobby]]) leave a very narrow margin for any text beside them. Second, on an 800px-wide monitor, the righthand navbar is 100% hidden. I see more people still using 800x600 monitors than you might expect...for instance, that's the default size for all colored iMacs. Small screens are not as outdated as it may seem to those of us with massive or even medium-sized screens! -[[User:Peteforsyth|Pete]]  ''copied from SuggestionBox'' [[User:Kasey|Kasey]] 11:17, 3 April 2008 (PDT)

The ''user contributions'' tab in the nav box doesn't work consistently. This [[User:Kelly_shemale| user]] has made edits, see [http://www.aboutus.org/index.php?title=User:Kelly_shemale&action=history history]; but when I am on the user's personal page and click to see contribs in the nav box- the page is [http://www.aboutus.org/Special:Contributions/Kelly_shemale blank.] [[User:Kasey|Kasey]] 12:14, 3 April 2008 (PDT)

Currently I am unable to view contribs,  I keep getting the owls. [[User:Kasey|Kasey]] 09:35, 15 April 2008 (PDT)

* Seems to be working fine. Can you be more specific on where did you find the problem? --[[User:Ali Anwar|Ali Anwar]] 04:12, 18 April 2008 (PDT)

== Galley of new files... ==

I am only able to view the gallery of news files back to the second page ''(next 48)''.  I believe that this jut started today. [[User:Kasey|Kasey]] 12:39, 18 April 2008 (PDT)

== when looking at a diff and I click edit, I'm editing the wrong version! ==

<s>This is a huge annoyance.  I reported it before, but can't find it, and it's still an active bug.  When I'm looking at a diff, and I click edit, instead of editing the version on the right, the one I'm looking at, it edits the one on the left, the previous one.  Can this be fixed, please?  [[User:TedErnst|TedErnst]] <small>([[User talk:TedErnst|talk]])</small> 09:31, 6 May 2008 (PDT)</s>

:This has been fixed. It should go live after the next deploy. Although it shouldn't but in case it persists, please let me know. --[[User:Ali Aslam|Ali Aslam]] 04:01, 13 May 2008 (PDT)

== Anonymous Edits ==

* We are still getting edits from Anonymous IPs like this one: [http://www.aboutus.org/index.php?title=Category:Phentermine&diff=0&oldid=12430770] [[Asad Butt|Asad]]  |  [[User_talk:Asad_Mahmood_Butt|<small>*~talk~*</small>]] 08:49, 7 May 2008 (PDT)

== Blocking IPs ==

I can't seem to block [[Special:Contributions/78.129.202.2|this person]].  See block log and note that I've deleted the garbage pages they've been creating so they won't show many contributions.  <s>Also, along with this it might be a good idea to disallow anonymous people to create pages manually. </s> [[Kristina Weis|Kristina]] <small>([[Kristina Weis/Contact|contact me]])</small> 20:17, 10 May 2008 (PDT)
