I meant to write this list last week, but then I started researching time-killing websites and well, I killed a lot of time. I had a lot of fun doing it though, and so I thought I would share with you the fruits of my labor.
These fabulous websites range from entertaining writing to "can't look away" train wrecks of dysfunction. Some will make you laugh, some will make you think, and if you're not careful, they will all guarantee you'll miss your deadline.
{{{2}}} (visit)Self described: gadgets, gizmos and awesome. A bastion of all things geek. References range from pop culture to quantum physics and they're all funny.
{{{2}}} (visit) Check out the creepy naked family. Then check out the even creepier family wearing naked costumes. And don't say I didn't warn you.
{{{2}}} (visit) Found notes, shopping lists, love letters and other detritus. Sometimes cryptic, sometimes horrifying, these little bits are always interesting.
Craigslist.org (Best of Craigslist) Actual Craigslist posts that have been culled and compiled for your delight. My personal favorite: "Stately Dutch MILF Magnet" posted by someone selling a bike because, "No sister is going to date a 34 year old systems administrator riding a European grocery bike. However, when I would cruise slowly down Park Slope's fifth avenue, panties would literally fly off of every white or asian woman with a stroller and a master's degree."
{{{2}}} (visit) You could go to this website instead of reading my AboutUs post. My feelings won't be hurt. It would be like kicking a puppy, but go ahead.
{{{2}}} (visit) The literary intellectual's procrastination page. Do check out the open letters to people or entities who are unlikely to respond. A personal favorite: An Open Letter to the Substitute Yoga Teacher Who Won't Stop With the Imagery
{{{2}}} (visit) My favorite magazine in online format so I can read it at work while appearing to actually, you know, work.
{{{2}}} (visit) Not recommended for work browsing due to the the fact that you must have the volume on to truly appreciate the comic genius of the Ninja. I recommend this site for late night, possibly drunken procrastination.
PublicRadio.org (Dinner Party Download) Dinner Party Download, like dessert at the end of the Marketplace meal on NPR, now available to go.
PrttyShttyDesign.blogspot.com (Pr*tty Sh*tty) A design blog that compares one excellent graphic design with one dismal one each day (weekends off!). The commentary is insightful and deliciously sarcastic.
