Bryan Daugherty, Steve Habib Rose, Daniel Bassill and I are holding discussions on various aspects of this material on Wiser Earth. Because Wiser Earth does not yet support live links in discussion forums, I have reposted my comment with the basic links here:

The idea is to create bridges across interest and expertise, within that locality in which everyone shares a common interest in a healthy local ecosystem and a healthy local economy, for the purpose of implementing sustainable systems of production. As each locality implements successful new systems those designs should be made available to all other localities.

I am working with one group that is interested in complementary currencies.

Another group that is interested in starting a Balle Chapter

Another group that wants to host the conversation: "What can we do to make our community a better place to live:

votelink.com

and a 4th group that is interested in developing open source software as tools for community organizing:

source tree commons

The problem is that none of these groups realizes that they are all working on the same problem. My goal is to find a way to have them each look up from their own work to see how the success of these other project would facilitate their own project - and then get more and more existing organizations involved in the conversation. I explained it in more detail at:

existing organizations

I would like this discussion to record the results of these efforts - to identify what works in Denver and in Elmira - to develop best practices and a template for action in other communities. This is also related to the Social Network Analysis discussion where we can see what works for Daniel Bassill and his Tutor/Mentor connection in Chicago.

That is my desire for this forum topic - please share what you would like to accomplish.
