Title
The Self Direction Community Project: Disability Awareness Training - www.selfdirection.org
Description
This Project was based in Falmouth, Cornwall participating in activities that were created in furtherance of Agenda 21 and for the good of Cornwall. We provided accredited training courses, together with counselling, advocacy, support, information, careers and training advice, disability consultancy to employers and goods and service providers, volunteering and work experience opportunities, and job creation schemes.
Many members of the local community used our service, either by volunteering skills they wished to share or by learning new ones, which they then passed on through work experience with the Project. Consultations carried out continuously since August 1999 have enabled us to determine the demand for a comprehensive and innovative E Learning packages. Self Direction ceased operating as a charity on 31st. July 2004 due to lack of core funding.
In order that this research is not wasted a company was formed in 2005 to market online Disability Equality and Diversity Training.
