Title
Intelligent Optical Systems, Inc. (IOS) - develops cutting-edge technologies in optical sensing and instrumentation, including biological sensors and chemical sensors.
Description
Intelligent Optical Systems, Inc. (IOS) was founded in April 1998. IOS was spun-off from POC with a ten-year catalog of Intellectual Property. Our mission is to become a leading research and development organization in optical sensing and analytical instrumentation. IOS scientists engage in the development of cutting-edge, commercially viable technologies. Our focused approach, combining vision, expertise, and dedication, has resulted in the commercialization of several technologies.
Our scientists and engineers specialize in conducting innovative proof-of-concept research to develop technologies that can be transformed into successful business ventures or licensed to commercial partners. To date, IOS has been awarded $24 M in government funded grants and has attracted over $20 M in venture capital funding . One of our spin-off companies, OptiNetrics , manufactures and markets active and passive integrated optic components, based on IOS-developed technology, for the telecommunications and defense industries. Recently, OpTech Ventures, LLC, (Optech) , was formed by IOS to market and commercialize all of its technologies through sublicenses, joint ventures, and the formation of new companies. OpTech subsequently acquired exclusive rights and title to all IOS technologies.
OpTech's first spin-off company, OptiSense, LLC , is pursuing hydrogen sensor markets in the automotive, fuel cell, and aerospace sectors. Recognizing the need and potential for hydrogen sensing, IOS established the first Hydrogen Sensor Research Center (HSRC) in the United States. HSRC focuses on the research and development of sensors and instrumentation for hydrogen gas detection needs in various industrial sectors, including the automotive, aerospace, and power generation industries.
