I began the web site just as "the Yahoo of Gran Canaria", which means it was a search engine and directory for Gran Canaria related web sites, there not being one then. The site became a success and search engines placed Gran Canaria Info higher and higher in the search results, which meant more and more visitors on the site.
Later I added a forum, as I got quite a lot of questions by mail that I didn't want repeating over and over again. I didn't know the answer to all of them either, so a forum was the next logical step. The forum now has more than 5000 members and forms a nice community of Gran Canaria lovers.
The Gran Canaria Info Guide project is the next step in even better informing the visitors. It being a WIKI system means that all visitors can actually change the content of the site. This way, the guide should quickly become the biggest guide available to Gran Canaria and a democratic (an honest) one.
