Serving the best Fish and Chips to Yorkshire
Our first fish and chip shop was bought in Halton, Leeds, in 1960 by Jackson and May Reed-Stephenson. A short time later, Tom Drakes in Cross Gates became their second outlet, before the jewel in the crown was opened – on George Street.
George Street – located on the outsides of Leeds market. Jackson’s infinite business wisdom, recognised what a prime city centre spot George Street offered and it took off as the busiest – if not the best! – fish and chip shop in Yorkshire.
Jackson at the helm, frying, May behind the counter and a brilliant team of girls keeping the customers happy.
All this time, even though we bought fish from Whitby, we didn’t have a restaurant here. So now, three years later, here we are, with a great view out to the North Sea making sure locals and visitors can get the authentic Fisherman’s Wife experience.
