About Us
Epilion Dermatology Laser Center has been around since mid-2000 and is a member of American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) since 2002. Our first laser unit was the first dermatological one in ex-Yugoslavia, and probably in the Balkans (Greece preceded us by 9 months).
Epilion had the privilege to set the standards in laser dermatology in Serbia. So far, we have had over 5,000 patients, over 7,000 examinations and consultations, and we have performed around 20,000 various treatments, which is more than other laser centers have done together. Epilion employs only doctors who specialize in dermatology and venereal diseases and trained medical staff. Epilion is different from similar, recently established centers in the following: 1. Its physicians are experienced and they continuously update their knowledge and skills all over the world (we were the first ones!); 2. Expertise – from day one we have employed only specialist dermatologists; 3. Good selection of patients – not everyone who wants the treatment can have it done. Why is it important that the treatments are done by a specialist in dermatology and venereal diseases?
This medical treatment marks the new area of aesthetic dermatology and is the exclusive competency of a dermatologist. A couple of real hair removal lasers have appeared in the past few years in Serbia – IPL and LHE – which may confuse a patient when choosing the treatment. There is a difference between cosmetic and dermatology equipment, strong and weak lasers. Of course, owners of cheap and weak devices will claim that that, indeed, is a proper laser device. One should also bear in mind that dermatological lasers must not be handled by non-specialists as this may cause permanent or temporary skin damage. Patients are often misled by flashy commercials, fake promises and low prices. But, at the end of the day, they all know where they will get the best value for their money.
