DJ Culture, Huntington Beach, CA. 4,536 likes · 17 talking about this. DJ Culture is an environment of sharing ideas and experiences with like minds. Music is something that we can all connect with anywhere on planet earth. We are DJs that love the culture and making people move. Head of this FB page is Jeff Adachi who started DJing as young kid in the 80s…From small events, high school dances to playing freestyle beats for the first wave of break dancers, mixing music was the daily dose and soon would become more than a hobby. Jeff soon started working the club circuit in Sacramento, CA and then made his way to Hollywood, California in 1987. While attending the University of Sound Arts, Jeff also interned at Capital Records and KROQ FM. While at KROQ, Jeff got the chance to work with Kevin and Bean as a morning show assistant which led him to work Swedish Egil that ultimately gave him the opportunity to make special radio mixes of bands such as Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys to Erasure to name a few. In 1991, Jeff (aka DJ Spinn) and Egil then moved on to do the Top 30 Countdown on the first Electronica dance station in the nation called “Mars FM” (based in Santa Monica, CA). Jeff became pioneering a new dance music genre know as Breakbeat or Breaks which became popular in the US Electronica movement in the mid to late 90's. Known as "Simply Jeff" producing original hits such as "My Planet", "Godzilla Funk" while releasing major mix compilations for various record labels led him to work with major artist such as Afrika Bambaataa, Stacey Q, Snoop Dog to Andre Dice Clay. From performing at 1st Coachella Music Festival to the MTV Music Awards at Radio City Music Hall, the mission is to spread information through our friends we have met throughout the years as well as to share what we think is important to dJ culture. The Past: The retail business known as "DJ Culture" was once a record store serving Orange County, California from 2002 to 2012 specifically located in Costa Mesa and later in Huntington Beach. Founder Jeff Adachi joined good friends Russ Sakurai and John Gavin as co-owners and hired music mogul and event manager Bryan Mizota from Honolulu, HI as store manager. For 10 years this store served more than just your local record store, it was a place where artist from across the country to around the world came by to visit and say hi. It also was an event ticket location as well a dJ school where you can also get your latest promo mix cd duplicated! Well as circumstances would have it, all good things must come to an end! Although the chapter as a community one stop shop for djs is over and missed, we look forward to what tomorrow brings for the future of tomorrows djs.
