Title
CyberExtruder | 3D Imaging Solutions
Description
Founded in March 1999, CyberExtruder is a software development company based in New Jersey. Its core technology enables the conversion of 2D facial images (such as a passport photo) to an accurate life-like 3D model of the subject’s face or head, which has several applications. This technology was first commercialized in the entertainment industry by enabling the personalization of video games and messaging applications. Management knew that as the technology evolved and accuracy improved, that it would become a critical enabling technology for the biometric and security industries. By allowing the conversion of 2D facial images to 3D facial models, the technology enhances the accuracy of facial recognition software by enabling the use of multiple variations in pose.
In the beginning, we applied our techniques to the simplest, most obvious marketplace as a proof of concept. The mandate was equally simple--Create an automated process that the most novice of users can successfully use to create 3D models of themselves.
Along the way we crafted an Instant Messaging application that allowed users see one another speaking in to form of animated avatars as would chat. As memory and processing power have increased, mobile camera phones have become commonplace. Early MMS applications allowed users to send photograph and text message pairs to one another. CyberExtruder took the step to allow user's photographs and text messages to combine into an animated avatar that can be sent and viewed over the existing wireless networks.
