Efforts to begin a Lutheran Church in Carson City date back more than 100 years. However, Bethlehem Lutheran Church traces its formal beginnings to 1956, when regular services were first begun by a neighboring pastor. In 1959, the congregation was officially organized and in 1960 Bethlehem became a member of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The first structure was built and dedicated in 1964, and three years later a large fellowship wing was added.
