Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy (SAHC) is a nonprofit organization based in Asheville, NC, dedicated to protecting land and water resources in the Southern Appalachian mountains for present and future generations. It works with landowners on a voluntary basis using techniques such as outright purchase and transactions that preserve private ownership. To date, SAHC has protected 20,000 acres across North Carolina and Tennessee.
