Michael and Ton were introduced to the Pilates Method in the early 1990's as performers. They were certified in the Pilates method under the sole tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska, one of Joseph Pilates protégés. In 2000, Romana asked them to become Teacher Trainers for her original International New York based Pilates certification program. As certified Teacher Trainers, they worked closely with Romana, guiding hundreds of apprentices from around the world throughout their 600-hour Certification program. In 2003, they resigned as Teacher Trainers for Romana’s certification program to pursue their own endeavors.
Michael and Ton are devoted to promoting the art of the Pilates Method and raising awareness of its inherent benefits. Together they have presented numerous seminars, workshops, master classes and continuing education for certified Pilates instructors and Pilates enthusiasts in the U.S. and abroad. They have also collaborated with a wide range of physical therapists to integrate the Pilates method into patient-based therapy programs. In 2005, they used their expertise to set up a certification program for the Skandinavisk Pilates Institute in Oslo, Norway.
Their work is featured in two VHS/DVD lines and has been profiled in Pilates Style, Self and a wide range of other publications. TV appearances include Oxygen, Lifetime, FOX and ABC.
