Salsa dancing is for everyone! Salsa dancing is an excellent way to widen your social circle and improve your fitness. Salsa is vibrant, sensual, energetic and fun. At ZS of Dance, in the heart of New York city, we make it our goal to enable you to experience the joy of this latin dance with a range of flexible programs to choose from that focus on training novice dancers.
You will develop solid skills and an appreciation for Latin tropical rhythm while having fun and creating your own personal style. Zamora School of Dance specializes in teaching ‘salsa on one’, alternatively known as ‘world salsa’, as this is the way it is danced worldwide. The program is unique in New York in that South American steps or ‘pasos’ are taught in the advanced levels integrated with popular NY stylings providing you with a large and rich repertoire from which to choose.
Hector Antonio Zamora, a native of Ecuador, has been a dancer & instructor of Latin dance for the past twenty years. For the last five years Hector has called New York home, teaching a blend of international salsa stylings that he developed working in Cuba, Argentina, and Spain. Before creating Zamora School of Dance, Hector founded Studio Zamora in Times Square in 2002. Today, Studio Zamora now called (Salsa International) is run by one of his former students, Gina Noel d’Ambrosio. Prior to this, Hector inherited the NY salsa classes of ballroom dance champion Sandra Cameron at the Sandra Cameron Dance Center, where he was an instructor for several years. During this time he trained Yvonne Vasquez who is a teacher there today. Previously, Hector served as the director and proprietor of La Escuela de Ritmos Tropicales in Ecuador, and as a corps dancer with Producciones Luis Padilla, performing in national productions under the choreographic direction of Noralma Vera. Hector’s international television appearances include dance performances on Domingo Millionarios and Nuestros Artistas. His directing credits include a series of televised instructional salsa programs for De Escuela de Bale and the myriad performances of his troupe Grupo de Baile Ritmo Tropical.
