Additional Information
Online Dating. A multi million dollar industry many times over. Why? What drives individuals to hand over money month after month in the hopes of meeting someone? Are they trying to have fun? Are they trying to kill the loneliness inside? Or are they searching for that lifelong marriage partner?
The debate surrounding the above questions can go on for days. People will join online dating sites. People will search out other people. Nothing will stop that anytime in the near future. But why pay for it? Do all the mainstream sites (match.com, americansingles.com, true.com, etc.) have something special that cannot be obtained from a free dating/networking site? The obvious answer is volume. Currently they have more people, and therefore more choices than all the rest. But what if everyone realized that they could have all the same functions and benefits of a "paid" dating site on a "free dating site"? Would there be a massive exodus, a migration away from paid dating sites? I don't know, but I think it would be fun to find out.
