At YJGM, you rate yourself from 1 to 5 on 43 questions that helps them to determine your personality profile. Your profile consists of 10 bubbles (5 pairs) that represent the Big Five Personality domains; the larger the bubble is for a particular trait, the larger that quality is displayed in your personality. For example- You could have a big bubble for “extraverted” and a small bubble for “introverted”. This means you are usually talkative and social and rarely quiet and reserved.
When people try and guess your personality based on the information you provide in your profile, they rate you on the same 43 questions you answered to determine your personality profile. By using Pearson’s Correlation, YJGM can determine how accurate others guessed you personality. Pearson’s Correlation takes two variables (your answers to the questions and the answers from the person who is guessing) and determines the degree to which they are related. A perfect positive relationship is denoted as “1”. If you score a 1 while guessing someone’s personality you have guessed every answer correct. This is very unusual; even most married couples only score in the “High” range. The breakdown of the accuracy scores are as follows: a low score is under 0.2, medium is 0.2 to 0.4, high is 0.4 to 0.6, and a very high score is 0.6 to 0.8.
The YJGM team hopes to analyze data collected from subjects who use the website and determine how much you can really learn about someone from their internet profile. So far they have over 6,000 members who have guessed each other 10,000 times! That’s a lot of data to collect and a lot of information to learn. So far we know women are better at guessing and their profiles are easier to guess. They just recently added widgets to analyze other profiles off the site such as Facebook and MySpace.
