- Instead of flying straight back to Canada we decided to use our month off to stop in Europe to visit our families. We flew Malaysian Air and thus had a stop over in Kuala Lumpur. We decided to extend the stopover for a few days since we've never been to Malaysia before. It was only 4 days, but we had a good time. We saw a couple of cultural type things including a mosque (where Agnes had to wear a head scarf and a robe that covered her arms and shoulders) and the Petronas Twin Towers, but in actual fact we spent most of our time shopping and hanging around. We would have liked to visit the beaches but will probably have to do that trip another day. Overall, KL is pretty westernized, and though reminiscent of Thailand, lacked the craziness. Our taxi broke down on the way to the airport, and we had to try push starting it, but in the end just hailed another cab which the first cab driver paid for. At best a weak approximation of South East Asian craziness.
