In 1999, WrestleLine.com was created by an employee of sports Internet company SportsLine.com that happened to be a huge fan of professional wrestling. WrestleLine.com was first launched by SportsLine in May of 1999.
In the two and a half years that followed, WrestleLine.com was the most heavily visited wrestling site on the Internet not owned by a major company such as the WWF (now WWE) or WCW.
Five different individuals served as producers for WrestleLine at various points in its SportsLine tenure. Denny Burkholder - a contributing writer for WrestleLine since its first months in 1999 - joined Dave Richard as co-producer in 2000, and in the final five months under the SportsLine banner, produced the web site for SportsLine by himself.
