WFRM was formed in 2003 and was the brain child of Dave Skipsey and Mike Turner with Tim Rogers coming on board soon after. We were originally based inside the Merseyside Model Railway Society premises in Brassey Street, Birkenhead but had to leave the premises at short notice due to problems, unfortunately at the time we failed to realise where the problems lay so the problem came with us.
We then spent several months looking for premises but none were found - several were investigated and rejected and one, at Barrow near Chester was found but seemed to not get discussed although the cat was let out of the bag when it was accidentally mentioned during conversations and also at the 2004 AGM. Some members disliked the direction the club was taking and decided not to renew their membership but to walk away and form their own club.
Mostyn and Johnstown Road became part of this new club - the construction of both is well documented in the Model press for those who care to read who actually built them.
