Description
The Winthrop Federal Credit Union is committed to help people who live or work in Winthrop, Chelsea, Revere, East Boston and the South End of Boston, Massachusetts by providing high quality personalized financial services. Specifically, we seek to identify and service those who are underserved or low-income by providing affordable loans, secured savings and financial education. The credit union is committed to grow in a socially responsible manner for the betterment of the community.
We are a non-profit cooperative financial association for the residents, employees and family members of those who reside in Winthrop, Chelsea, Revere, East Boston and the South End of Boston, Massachusetts. Authorized and maintained by Congress, credit unions have a unique ability to provide complete financial services for their members. Deposits are insured by the NCUSIF, MSIC and are backed by the full faith of the United States Government. The WFCU is owned and operated by its members, not stockholders. The Board of Directors sets policy and the President/CEO carries out these directives and provides leadership and support for the nearly 25 employees.
We are a designated Low-Income Community Development Credit Union and have a special focus on helping the underserved in our community.
