Description
Perched on the slopes of Rodborough Common overlooking Stroud, the Winstone family has been making icecream ever since 1925 when Albert Winstone founded the company. With a motorbike and sidecar, Albert would set off on a tour of the surrounding area, selling the icecream which had been made on the Winstone's site, Greenacres. Alberts son Frank is now the owner of the company, his three daughters and their husbands help run the business overseeing production of the now extensive range of icecream flavours.
In 1985 they aquired Cotswold Dairy (Ice Cream) Ltd, a local company from Cheltenham and after restructuring and relocating to Stroud, Winstone's have now become a substantial supplier to a number of major retail outlets'. From their shop on Rodborough Common, Winstone's still sell direct to the public, who regularly gather in their droves to sample the renowned delights of Winstone's Icecream.
