Agnete G. Haaland ACTRESS, DIRECTOR, WRITER, PRODUCER

AND PRESIDENT OF NORWEGIAN ACTORS` EQUETY ASSOCIATION

Agnete G. Haaland has done leading parts in theatres all over Norway for the last 25 years.

Her acting career includes Anne in The Diary of Anne Frank, Solveig in Peer Gynt, Dorothy in The wizard of Oz, Pippi in Pippi Longstockings and Jane in First Person Singular.

She have starred in many Norwegian TV- and Film productions including Sophie in Camilla and the Thief and Gro Aaslein in Four seasons. In september 2006 she played Nora in Henrik Ibsen`s A Doll`s house at The National Theatre in Beijing, China. In 1991 she founded her own theatre company Daugters of Thalia. She has developed, produced, co-written and acted in a series of monologues that have been vividly acclaimed by the audience and by theatre critics. The gender issue has been essential in all her projects. She wishes to focus on women who have done an extraordinary effort to obtain their aims. Her first monologue Florence Nightingale- woman at war focused on Florence Nightingale`s many battles against her family and the stuctures of her privileged social class, against military and medical bureaucrats, and against illness and death on the battlefield. Is is her conviction that monologue based on a true story from Chile and a monologue for children based on the chinese tale The monkey king. In 1995 she was invited by the Mayo foundation to tour each Mayo group practice thanks to the 1995 Irving S. Cooper Visiting Professorship at Mayo Foundation. This tour also granted her the honorary citizenship of Minneapolis. Her last production was a one woman show where she performed all the parts in Henrik Ibsen`s Peer Gynt. The Norwegian Ministary of Foreign Affairs invited Peer Gynt- a monologue to tour China in the Ibsen Anniversay 2005, and she performed the monologue with great success in Beijing during The Ibsen Festival in China in september 2006.

She is a member of The Norwegian ministry of Foreign affairs` advisory council on WTO/GATS and The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Culture`s and Ministry of Education`s advisory council on art for children (“The cultural rucksack”) She has been a member of numerous offical councils and boards involved in the arts and in official Norwegian politics. She is highly profiled fighter for better conditions for art and artists and she have been the president of Norwegian Actors` Equety Association since 1999.
