- I made this database site because I began to see confusion and misinformation regarding the different Wii revisions and the DVD drive controller chips used in new machines. As of August 2008 there are 6 different controller chips, and that's in a span of 1.5 year. There is already a Wii Tracker site helping you to find what kind of chip you have and whether the pins were cut, but it didn't include support for the latest chip revisions. Nintendo regularly revs the chip to fix faults and make it more cost efficient. It's not known if Nintendo actively combats the homebrew/drivechips but it certainly seems that way from the perspective of a modder.
