John White was born in Scotland in 1963; the eldest of four and left home early to pursue a career in the Royal Navy. After leaving the services, he ran his own business as a plumbing and heating engineer before setting up White Star Memories in 1995, as a home to his growing collection of White Star Line artefacts.
