Description
First and foremost a community ensemble, the Main Band was formed in Harrogate, North Yorkshire by Reg W Brown in 1976. The band consists of woodwind, brass and percussion players of a range of ages (16 to 80+).
The emphasis is on music and friendship, while challenging everyone to perform to the highest standard under the baton of Musical Director, Ben Tierney.
Performances are held at a variety of venues throughout the year, including outdoor venues across the district in the summer months. A recent addition to the calendar is the Bradford Concert of Remembrance which was held at St Georges Hall in 2004. The band regularly takes part in competitive festivals at local and national level.
