Description
When Westside Orthopaedic Clinic opened in 1961, Dr. Jack Winters was the first fulltime Orthopaedic Surgeon to practice on the Westbank. The practice grew and prospered. The clinic facility at 925 Avenue C in Marrero was constructed in 1967. The clinic's size doubled with an addition in 1980.
To handle the increasing number of patients, the clinic, now with seven (7) physicians, had to move to a larger facility. In 1998 the clinic moved across the street to 4500 10th Street Marrero a 10,000 square foot building. The added space allowed the clinic to develop the Sports Medicine & Rehab Center, which enabled the clinic to provide a full service Physical Therapy Center within the clinic.
In 1999 three of the original physicians retired. Dr. Jack Winters, Dr. Robert Fleming and Dr. Joseph Frensilli. Four new physicians took their place; Dr. Ralph P. Katz, Dr. Chris J. DiGrado, Dr. Fernando L. Sanchez and Dr. David K. Kessler, each bringing with them a unique specialty of Orthopaedic medicine.
