Dr. Schwartz has been working in the mental health field for more than 20 years. He earned his master's degree from the University of St. Thomas in 1983, and he completed his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Denver in 1988. Dr. Schwartz specializes in--and has extensive working experience with--the treatment of adolescents, families, and couples. Before coming to work for Westside Behavioral Care, he held several administrative and management positions in the behavioral health care industry where he served as clinical liaison between insurance companies and mental health practitioners. Dr. Giles was a clinical psychologist for 20 years before switching to an administrative role with Westside Behavioral Care. While a psychologist, he specialized in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and bulimia, and published numerous papers on these and related subjects. For a number of years he served as Executive Director for Cigna Behavioral Care of Colorado, and he collaborated with several managed care companies to maximize the effectiveness of psychotherapy across a broad range of disorders. He is author/editor of 3 books: Cognitive-Behavior Therapy: A Restructuring Approach (with Rian McMullin, Ph.D.), Managed Mental Health Care: A Guide for Practitioners, Employers, and Hospital Administrators, and Handbook of Effective Psychotherapy.
Howard Baumgarten, LPC , Director, Network Relations
Howard Baumgarten, LPC earned his masters degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Colorado in 1997. He is a Nationally Certified Family Therapist and holds a lecturer position at the University of Colorado, Denver. Prior to coming to Westside Behavioral Care, Mr. Baumgarten worked in a variety of mental health agencies in clinical, administrative, and management positions. He brings additional business experience in sales, management, administration, and ownership in and outside of the behavioral health field.
