- Bol is situated on the southern coast of the island of Brac at the base of the mountain Vidova gora in Central Dalmatia. It is 35 km away by sea from the town of Split. The easternmost point of the island of Brac is 8 km south of Makarska and Makarska Riviera, and the westernmost point is 15 km away from the historical town of Trogir. Bol has 1,500 inhabitants, a medical health centre, a bank, a post office, a church, harbour authorites, a police station and many shops. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia. In the year 2005 the Croatian National Tourist Board elected it the best tourist destination in Croatia in the category of small resorts (less than 5,000 inhabitants). In Bol there are eight hotels, many apartments and rooms in private guest houses and several small camping sites. The best known beach in Bol, and not only in Bol but also worldwide, is Zlatni rat.
