Well, howdy. I'm Gary Weisserman, one of two professors who teach the Instructional Project Design (IPD) team here at The University of Michigan. (Or, as one student last semester put it, "He's the tall bald dude who teaches us how to do cool nerd stuff.") The other professor is Jeff Kupperman, who is neither tall nor bald but worth meeting nonetheless ...

I didn't mean to create a blog. I created the original version of this site as a sample bio page to demonstrate some basic web design principles to my IPD class. Lo and behold, any number of people are now running that version of the blog site. I wanted to simplify things a bit. Hence this version.

If you care--maybe you're having a hard time sleeping, for instance--here's a quick summary. Professionally speaking, I'm pretty sure I have the best job in education. Mornings, I teach American History at West Bloomfield High School; afternoons, I teach advanced web design for educational applications and social justice at The University of Michigan's School of Education and the The University of Michigan-Flint's School of Education and Human Services. I also run a number of web-based educational initiatives with U of M's Interactive Communications and Simulations (ICS) group.
