Title
Wedding Receptions Melbourne - The Mandalay, Australia
Description
The house was built in 1912, and is one of a set of two houses built by Mr. Laurence Don Edwards, now a respected master builder. Fond of the fact that Melbourne can experience the four seasons in one day, and of Italian Culture, he named the homes Lugano and Como, after the Lakes of Lugano and Como, on the border of Switzerland and Italy. Like the lakes were mirror images so too are Lugano and Como both reverse of each other.
The master bedrooms were decorated with the Four Seasons in the Wunderlich pressed-metal ceilings. The views from their respective bay windows were and still are something to behold, they were later to be known as the Four Seasons rooms where they would retire to at the end of each day and listen to Vivaldi's Recordings.
The house was renamed Mandalay in 1961 and has been receiving brides ever since. The house next door to this day is still a private residence. Mandalay has been established since 1961. The name "Mandalay" comes from the great love story "Rebecca" and the grand mansion (Mandalay) to which the heroine arrives.
